Christmas with Lukas

Lukas came to Utah and spent Christmas break with me. We followed Kuligowski tradition and made Polish perogies! They turned out really good. We made LOTS. Even Matt was willing to try them and liked them!

Soldier Hollow!

Lukas and I went tubing. It was great, it had a rope tow up the hill...so all you had to do was sit on the way up, and sit on the way down. The perfect winter activity!

Magical Temple Square

On Monday, DeRae, Matt, Lukas and I went up to Salt Lake to look at the lights at Temple Square. Here is documentation:

Porcine Pals

My favorite part of our Best Friends Animal Sanctuary stay was working with the potbellied pigs. Matt and I had a lot of fun and learned a lot about these unique pets. Did you know they are smarter than dogs? And cleaner too! They designate one area of their area as the "bathroom", whereas with dogs...well, that's not always the case.

We started out on a tour of the pig pens, and then worked on getting dinner ready. We chopped lettuce, added food pellets and vegetables. Than we took Sprocket on a walk. He was a cute little pig. He was young, so he still had a few good years of growing. We than went around and gave all the pigs a snack--Popcorn! The pigs loved it.

We then took Naniue on a walk. Naniue means beautiful in Hawaiian. She was a lot of fun. She kept up with us, thanks to the Shredded Wheat.

Little Hollywood

Who knew that Kanab, a southern Utah town, was once known as "Little Hollywood"? Kanab was the place to film western movies cuz of all the landscape. The big red rock formations are stunning! I loved it! These pictures don't do it justice. The city's website has better pictures.




But with Kanab's place in cinema history, they have to have a way to commemorate it, right? You know it!! My cousin Matt and I had a lot of fun looking at the different sets...as our pictures will tell you.

We started out by breaking into a house where the Rat Pack filmed some western. We sat on the bed, but it was uncomfortably wet...

Well the sheriff caught us in the Rat Pack house, and took us to the big house...the clink...jail that is. Luckily we made some new friends.

But justice was swift, and I was tried and hung, and faked my death.

Why fake my death? To get Matt out of jail of course!!

Thanksgiving

I had a non-traditional Thanksgiving this year. I worked in the afternoon, and so did my aunt Rashel. So we met up afterward and went out to dinner to an Asian buffet. What do you think my fortune said?

Good-golly Miss Molly!

When I think of adventures, lately I've had several with a wonderful friend Molly. Our story begins back in the summer of 2007 and in the far away city of Saratov, Russia. Molly was there with her University on a study abroad program at Saratov State University. She's LDS and found the Elder missionaries the first day she was there! They eventually gave us sister missionaries her info and we got in touch with her. So then Molly was our buddy for the next month or so. She'd go to picnics with us, to English Club. We even got a church member who worked at the theater to give us a backstage tour of a ballet, Girl and Death. Then as fate would have it, Molly's group and mine went home at the same time. So Molly and I have kept in touch and remained good friends. This past summer, about the same time were together in Russia, Molly came to visit me here in Provo, Utah. We went to the amusement park Lagoon and explored thier cool Western village. We were even transported back in time, to the days when Molly and I were saloon girls...those were the days.

Guns, money and booze...and feathers, lots of feathers.










Then we did another time warp, but this time to the 80's!

Note the vintage earrings. Not seen here is my side ponytail and our wicked awesome outfits. Lots of leggings. No Day-glow colors unfortunetly.

Then flash forward to October 2008. Molly drove down from Wyoming to attend General Conference. She got an extra ticket so I could go too! Here's us with the beautiful Tabernacle organ and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir getting ready to perform.

And of course there was a trip to the Mall, where we did our pattented kissy face/sexy/Zoolander pose. (I think it's a look we still need to perfect, just give us time).

So Molly, this blog goes out to you! I am so glad we met and have continued our friendship! I am looking forward to many adventures to come!

Fossils, ya dig?

Labor day, a day of rest for some...a day of back breaking labor for me and my peeps! Thanks to the Discovery show Cash and Treasures my aunt and cousin found out about the trilobite fossil digging place in Delta, Utah. From what the nice man in the overalls said, this is one of only two places in the world where the layer of rock, slate, where trilobites can be found on the surface. And they could be found everywhere! It was pretty cool, if you like hard work and ancient marine creatures.
